Twitter for marketing? Are you crazy? How?

The idea of sitting down and writing out little messages of what I’m doing every second of the day just never appealed to me. Who has time for that? Well, if you’re a stay-at-home parent, then maybe I could see someone journaling every moment of their day.

When it was proposed that Twitter could be use for marketing, I asked the obvious question…how?

Twitter is considered to be micro-blogging. If you’re not familiar with micro-blogging (I wasn’t until I saw a very interesting video on how to use it as a marketer), it is where you write short one to two sentences about what you’re doing at any given moment. Exciting I know.

And yes, there are people who write their daily activities on Twitter. What’s even more astonishing is that people actually sign up as  followers to read what other people are doing! This is why it can work to your advantage as a marketer.

The Twitter blogging platform is free. It’s not much to scream about, but it does its job well despite its limitations and looks.

As a marketer, you can take this Twitter phenomena in a  whole new direction. Twitter is just loved by Google. In fact, you can see how much traffic Twitter is getting here (comparison done with Tumblr and Pownce two other similar sites): Alexa

Amazing. As an Internet marketer who knows the power of certain kinds of sites in the search engines, then you know what’s your next logical action step may be.

Well, it didn’t dawn on me until I seen this video by Jack Humphrey. Just when I think I know enough and I’m ready to cancel my membership Social Power Linking, Jack puts out another tip, trick, “secret” on how to use one of these social sites. There’s no end to learning. I guess I will never know enough!

And another micro-blogging site just come up on the scene a little while ago called Pownce. It may just give Twitter a little competition.

If you’re using Twitter as a way to keep your friends abreast of your comings and goings, think outside of the box and think of the obvious ways to use it as an marketer.

For those of you who don’t know what the heck a Twitter is, then look at the video at the site. It kind of amateurishly breaks it down for you.

If you’re into social marketing, then you’ll like Jack Humphrey’s training on it. It’s really straight forward and to the point, in fact, if you haven’t downloaded his 2008 version of the Authority Black Book, you’re missing out on a wealth of information on how to do social marketing. He gives away a lot, and that book is absolutely free, but it’s priceless. Now go Twitter!
