Email marketing is king when it comes to building up your credibility and building up a list. You get to show people who you are and what you can do to help them-rather cheaply I might add.
The prime basis for email marketing is to get a targeted, responsive list. Having a list of 10,000 subscribers sounds nice, but not if they aren’t buyers or if they aren’t targeted. A list of 1000 targeted buyers that trust you is much, much better.
Below are five list building ideas to help you make the most of your email marketing campaigns.
1. Provide useful, relevant content. You have to provide valuable information that will be useful for your subscribers. You have to provide solutions for people.
2. Add a subscription form to every page of your website. The top corners are ideal for subscription boxes.
3. Make the sign up process as easy as possible. Don’t ask for too much information up front, you can always go back later and get more information from them. Name and email is all you need in the beginning for most campaigns. If you ask for more, your opt-in rates will go down unless you offer something of value that requires your potential subscribers to give up more information.
4. Address your visitors’ privacy concerns. Most people are worried that they will receive spam after giving out their email address. Put a little disclaimer on the form to tell your potential subscribers that you respect their privacy and that you don’t sell, share or rent out information. You can also have a link to your privacy policy page.
5. Show an example newsletter to your visitors. This lets your potential subscribers review your newsletter before they sign up and determine if it is something they’d be interested in.
