Here’s an article by Jonathan Leger on how to do a 4 prong (is that a word?) approach to link building. Link building in an effort to increase your rankings in the search engines. Basically it’s to appease the search engine gods.

This isn’t necessarily the same as doing Social Power Linking, as taught by Jack Humphrey. His social power linking strategy is about getting traffic from the various social sites itself.

In a perfect world, you should be doing both. In an imperfect world, the least you can do is start by getting backlinks. Jonathan’s article is going to break it down for you so that you have a multi-layer approach for doing so.
