MLM Leads: Is Buying and Calling Leads Still the Best Approach?
The Lead Headache is a real malady.
Why?
Most people get burnt out sooner or later calling and purchasing leads from lead companies. Not only that, but people get anxiety, sweaty palms, and even headaches all from cold calling strangers. Usually unqualified strangers.
I’m sure you can relate if you’ve ever purchased leads and actually called them.
You also get financially drained if your skills aren’t up to par yet- the more you stink at closing people the more leads it will take for you to get good at it!
Take into consideration that you don’t know for the most part how those leads were generated or how many times they were sold to other network marketers like yourself or worse yet to other lead companies.
When you think about it, you’re paying $2-$4 per lead if not more and if you don’t have a “backend” product to sell them, you’re losing money …and fast-unless you can sponsor enough people at the right level to come out ahead.
Do the math and see how many people it takes for you to get back the price you paid for those leads-you know, just to break even.
Then you also want to look at the lifetime value of a customer or business prospect. Are people dropping out of the business right after they start or six months down the road? Are customers canceling their autoship after four months? After one month?
These are the metrics you should know but you want to use your numbers (gotta do research and tracking), not the numbers your mlm company is telling you.
Sadly, most people lose a lot of money buying leads because they don’t do the math beforehand. I know, I was one of them. I used to work in a casino a few years ago so you would think math would be my forté!
If you’ve been in network marketing long enough, you know that you have to go through enough of the numbers to find good quality prospects who:
a. Seriously want a business…and not a job!
b. Like and want to sell the product
c. Are eager to recruit others into the opportunity
This can be a challenge for the part-time network marketer.
You know by now that you’re in an uphill battle…it’s not as easy as you thought it was-huh?
Those aforementioned reasons are the reasons why more and more network marketers are turning to the Internet to market their businesses and products. If you want to seriously buy and call mlm leads, at least prepare yourself emotionally and financially for the long haul.
