Gather: Make Money Doing Social Marketing

I was just nosey-ing around on Gather, when I discovered something very interesting.

By the way, Gather is a social networking site, where people from all backgrounds go to share stories, pictures, and even recipes.

It has a Google Page Rank of 6, so it’s a site worth putting up a link to your website on.

I like it because it’s friendly. It’s easy to navigate. The colors are warm and inviting (it’s the woman in me talking).

In terms of it as a huge business portal, it doesn’t really hit a home run. But you meet real people-people just being themselves without a “hidden agenda.”

And you’ll run into a few entrepreneurs as well, so there is still the business networking aspect to it all.

What I found out today, is that Gather awards people points who contribute to the community. The points then can be redemed for cash.

I’m like, wow…how neat to encourage people (incentivised) to be a part of something.

Anyone can do this and make money; however, it you’re anti-social and hate to write, then this is not for you.

You won’t get rich, that’s for sure. But you can earn enough to pay the car payment or your utility bills.

There are other sites that are like this that pay people to participate. It’s just a means to an end; enough money to get by while you work on your major business.

The key is to find that balance so that you’re not putting more time into this kind of activity than in your primary business.
